Conrad J. Surbeck graduated from Springfield College in 1913. He became a Physical Director for the Y.M.C.A. in New London before joining the Y.M.C.A. in army work in the World War I. When he returned from the war he was an Instructor of Physical Education for Harvard before becoming the Physical Director for the Public Schools in Melrose Massachusetts. After his career in the Y he got into the real estate business, finally working for E.A.Parlee Co. Inc. until his retirement and death in 1957.
