Dr. Arthur S. Lamb was born in Ballarat, Australia in 1889. He was the physical director of the Y.M.C.A. in Vancouver, British Columbia from 1907-1909. He attended Springfield College 1909-1912 and attained a bachelor degree in physical education. While at Springfield, Lamb excelled in swimming, earning the College title for three years and served as senior student instructor for swimming. He remained a generous contributor to the alumni fund throughout his life. After his time at Springfield, Lamb gained a MD at McGill University in 1917 and then served with the No. 3 Canadian general hospital and 8th Canadian field ambulance in France and Belgium as captain, C.A.M.C. After a length career at McGill, he retired in 1949. He passed in 1957.
