O. W. Stevens collection of glass plate negatives, 1898-1912
Description:
The collection contains 157 glass plate negatives created by O.W. Stevens between 1898 and 1912. The photographs are focused around the same group of people including what appears to be O.W. Stevens' wife and children. The photographs were taken mostly in northern Massachusetts and southern Vermont and New Hampshire. Plates taken in Rhode Island and Connecticut are also present in the collection. Subjects include portraits of friends and family, landscapes, street scenes, and photographs of family vacations and activities. Almost every glass plate came in a negative sleeve, on which was listed the negative number, title, date and sometimes location of the negative. Also contained in the collection is a small notebook which documents the negatives. It contained a list of 310 negatives, of which 119 were present in the collection. The notebook organized the negatives first by date and then location.
