In this caricature King Louis-Philippe is sitting on a serving tray, his head shaking, he is being carried by a citizen. The Caricature explains that the person is the Emperor Claudius. The pear on the right clearly indicates that it is Louis-Philippe who is represented here. Louis-Philippe was known to enjoy appearing dressed like a bourgeois on the streets of Paris. He also went riding in review of his troops. The plate shows the following text: I am always open to new pleasures.
