Description:
Here a man / actor is practicing his declarations of love in front of a bust. The prints from the series GALERIE PHYSIONOMIQUE numbered DR 326 to 350 carry French as well as English subtitles. The series consisted of 25 prints by Daumier and six by Traviès. It mainly covered topics such as the theatre, tobacco, wine, and gastronomy. Cherpin on page 142 of the Aulnay-sous-Bous exhibition catalogue suggests that the person on the left may be Alexandre Dumas, declaring his love and admiration to Homer.
