Program produced and moderated by Howard Spergel examines reaction to the United States Office Of Education issued Coleman Report examining the education of the poor. Authorized by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the report comments on integration, social class and race, the roots of education, and questions how much schools actually influence student learning. Spergel discusses the report in studio with Daniel P. Moynihan, Director of the Harvard/MIT Joint Center For Urban Studies; and Thomas Pettigrew, Harvard Associate Professor of Social Psychology and Chief Consultant to the United States Commission on Civil Rights.
