Robert Macaire is trying to pitch a sale to a disinterested man. The caption reads: "What! By devil, Mr. Dupont! A man like you really ought to have some useful knowledge!!... I'll make you out a subscription. --No, no, you're wasting your time. I'm not interested. --Quite right!... I'll just deliver you a nice cask of Bordeaux. --No, no, I don't like it. It's much too cold a wine for me... --You're quite right, by jove. We won't say another word about it. I'll just put you down for some useful knowledge and a cask of Bordeaux... --I said No, Mr. Macaire, no! --Very good! By heavens, it's very good! You can pay me when you like. I'll send the receipt tomorrow!"
