Letter from Joseph Langland to Judith G. Wood Langland
Description:
Seeing a young soldier sobbing: "No one said anything to him. There was nothing say. He had just been called out of the lecture and handed a telegram saying his brother had been killed in battle." If called into battle, Langland will be thinking of Judy and his family: "And I have wanted to say for a long time that if I should go I would want nothing so much as that you should rise magnificently wiser above death and be queenly in your continued mastery of full and rich living. The greatest tragedies are subcharged with calmness and confidence and great faith... Let us laugh at it, Judy!" Will ask for a leave of absence this week. Splendid war news.
