Allons bon!... la v'là qui au lieu de lait, verse du cirage dans mon chocolat!... satané roman va!...
Title (alt.):
Charivari. Look at that! Instead of milk she is pouring shoe polish into my hot chocolate! enough with that damned novel!
Description:
A woman is so absorbed in reading her novel that she accidentally pours shoes polish rather than milk into the chocolate she is cooking for her husband. One of the main arguments of male opposition against the suffragettes was that the working women would tend to neglect their families.
