In this fourth episode, "Professor and Lowell Television Lecturer at Harvard University" I. A. Richards reads from book nine of his abridged translation of the Iliad, The Wrath of Achilles. As in the other episodes, Richards begins by introducing the book's major categories, illustrating them with Greek statues, images of which appear to his side. The episode's focus is the "mysterious power of Achilles," to whom Agamemnon appeals for assistance in the Trojan endeavor. Richards reads and comments on Agamemnon's "huge" offer to Achilles and the latter's refusal. Summary and select metadata for this record was submitted by John Marx & Mark Cooper. Based on the 1958 book The Wrath of Achilles, The Iliad of Homer by I.A. Richards.
