Seven musicians perform onstage at a Parcel C fundraiser and talent show. In the 1990s, the New England Medical Center negotiated with the City of Boston to build a parking garage on Parcel C in Chinatown, land which had previously been promised to Chinatown residents for a community center. The Chinese Progressive Association helped form the Coalition to Protect Parcel C, which was instrumental in halting the New England Medical Center's plan. This image was taken in July 1993, at a talent show to raise money for Parcel C. In the background, there is a banner hanging on the wall that reads: "No Garage on Oak St." The controversy over Parcel C was later resolved, and in 1994 the Chinese Progressive Association was formally granted land to build a community center.
