Letter from Joel and Barbara Halpern to his parents during their time in Laos with the United States Operations Mission. This letter is in the form of an interview conducted by Halpern's translator, Aram Udol. Udol interviewed an "old woman," who was the sister-in-law of the Tasseng. She speaks of her family, her sons and rice fields, and how her sons work as samlaw (pedicab) drivers when not busy in the fields. Aram Udol interviewed another neighbor who told him about the village school and the bonzes of the village.
