Dedication of the new building and hall of the Boston Medical Library Association
Description:
Following the formation of the Boston Medical Library in 1875, Holmes agreed to be the Association’s first president. He delivered the dedicatory address at the opening of the library’s new building at 19 Boylston Place in 1878 and here makes the case for inclusion of “works which we are in the habit of considering as being outside of the pale of medical science,” particularly Thomsonian and homeopathic literature.
