Catherine Bateson followed her celebrated parents Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson into anthropology. Her subjects range from the social consequences of the AIDS epidemic to the subject of her book, COMPOSING A LIFE, which explores how women create order and sense out of their conflicting commitments.
