Description:
Pierre Antoine Berryer (1790-1868) was a lawyer who, together with his father, unsuccessfully defended Marshall Ney. He was a royalist Deputy from 1830 until 1868 (with interruptions) and was an outspoken opponent of universal suffrage and freedom of the press. He supported Louis Napoléon and was nominated to the Académie Française in 1855.
