Recording 2 of 2 of an oral history interview with Anna Cole, conducted by Eugene Green, Chairman of Tenant Management and resident of Bromley-Heath Public Housing Development. Cole comments on parental involvement in education, the education of her children, and how the Central Library and Codman Square Branch played a role in expanding her children’s education. She discusses community services that were available at Bromley-Heath, specifically the Martha Eliot Health Center, “The Cave” [teenage club at Bromley-Heath], All Parks Alliance for Change (APAC) community control, daycare, and the Bromley Cross Typing Program at Martha Eliot. Cole also discusses community services beyond Bromley-Heath, specifically the Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts, the Elma Lewis Playhouse, as well as Elma Lewis herself. Cole discusses Bromley-Heath’s connection to the Black community in Roxbury. She also remarks on community efforts to gain more funding for Bromley-Heath, specifically through their work with Norman Watser[?] and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the tenant demonstration at HUD.
