Fifteen year old Georgette Lesch of 19 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, was named 'Miss Day in the Sun' today (Thursday, June 18, 1959) as the Institute for the Crippled and Disabled held its 30th annual boat ride and 'Day in the Sun' for more than 2,000 handicapped people from this area. Bruce Barton, left, President of the Institute and Rear Admiral Schuyler N. Pyne, U.S.N. Commander, New York Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn, presented Miss Lesch with her honors as Willis C. Gorthy, right, Director of the Institute, handed her the queen's bouquet of flowers.
