This glass negative has a chart showing the growth of physical training in the United States as measured by the growing number of gymnasia between 1870 and 1900. It is part of a series demonstrating the benefits of the International YMCA Training School (now known as Springfield College) education for both physical directors and secretaries of YMCA facilities. The graph was painted onto a long piece of paper and suspended from a blackboard.
