Formal portrait of Frank Hall Joyner, Class of 1882, on cabinet card with "Lovell, Amherst, Mass." on front. Mr. Joyner took one course at Massachusetts Agricultural College then left in 1881 to become a chain man with the New York, West Shore and Buffalo Railroad. Eventually he became a railroad engineer before leaving that particular field to work as an engineer on the construction on many bridge and dam projects. In 1896, he took up highway engineering and worked for the state of Massachusetts before becoming a Chief Engineer for the Los Angeles Highway Commission. "FH Joyner '82" written on front. "Library of the Massachusetts Agricultural College, Amherst, Mass." stamped on back.
