'I took my daughter and granddaughter with me for a walk on the trails behind Stall Brook Elementary School. We stopped to document the trail parking sign I had worked with the town to place at the trail head, to help raise the visibility of local trails in Bellingham. It was still several years before I realized I needed to write a book about our local trails. This may have been a walk I took to gather information for an article I wrote for the Bellingham Bulletin--a series of articles titled 'Naturally New England,' that highlighted local trails. This series was the genesis of the work that has consumed much of my energy in the years since then. I am passionate about exploring Easy Walks, that is, trails that are somewhat accessible, and appropriate for those who have limited mobility, including myself. Walking has been a huge part of my healing path, since I was paralyzed on my right side nearly thirty years ago, and continue to heal by walking. Finding Easy Walks is for me a journey towards healing, and helping others to discover how to be more active, especially those who have physical and other challenges, is a way for me to feel like I have something to give back, after all that has been given to me over the years. Best of all, spending time outdoors makes me very, very happy! Pictured: Anna Rogers and Nicole Rogers.'
