The New York observance of National Employ the Physically Handicaped Week (NEPH) got under way yesterday (October 5) at the Institute for the Crippled and Disabled with the presentation of special awards to two New York City employees for outstanding work in hiring the handicapped. Fred C. Board (left) Commander of the Advertising Men's Post, American Legion; Willis C. Gorthy (center) Director of the Institute, and Orin Lehman (right), Chairman of Governor Nelson Rockefeller's Committee of Employment of the Handicapped presented the awards to handicaped Joseph Grant, (second from left) employee of Millard Hannenson, Inc., Leathergoods Manufacturers, and to Chil Kopel, (second from right), employee of the Shelley Jewelry Manufacturing Company.
