Deisgn for political brochure for Strausser's Schwarze Front (Black Front)
Description:
Through his connection with Eberhard "Tusk" Koebel, Helmut Hirsch met Otto Strausser, who was the leader of the Schwarze Front (Black Front) in Prague. The Black Front was a political group that had splintered off from Hitler, having a socialist agenda not shared by the Nazis. In 1930, Strausser resigned from the Nazi Party to avoid being expelled. Strasser formed the Black Front to continue what he saw as the original anti-capitalist stance of the Nazi Party. Hirsch created the Black Front's design for their political brochures. For this design, Hirsch has again turned to a more expressionist style with an abstract male figure holding a camera. The color palette is also simple with Hirsch choosing to only use white, grey and black. The images are matted to a dark brown board.
