Letty has been unable to write because she is sick with the flu. Nick has probably read about the influenza epidemic in Massachusetts. Letty is feeling better but so many people are becoming sick and dying. Nick's letters and the rosary beads he sent helped to keep her courage up. Many girls at the office are out sick, they have been having a hard time managing. Letty received a book of views of Tours and it is a very pretty city. Bill is in Bordeaux, she asks if that is near Nick.
