In this emotionally charged episode of "The Alabama Experience" the violent, tragic history of Reconstruction, the period of rebuilding and southern states reentering the Union after the American Civil War, is examined in Talladega County, Alabama. Many southern Whites felt threatened with the newly-established right to education for Black Americans. This led to an attitude of resentment and contempt from Whites that materialized as lynchings and other hate crimes against Black people. A series featuring citizens and communties across the state of Alabama. The Alabama Experience aims to explore cultural and historical places, as well as the people who occupy them.
