Title (alt.):
Charivari. AN EPISODE AT THE EXHIBITION. As you can see, my instrument is of great force and produces a continuous jet. In case of need it can also be used to water the flowers in your garden.
Description:
This print is from a series that depicts the influx of tourists from abroad as well as the French provinces who came to Paris to visit the Exposition of 1844. It shows how the merchants of Paris often took advantage of the helplessness and inexperience of these travelers on their first trip to the capital.
