'This is my grandfather, John Joseph Halpin, who immigrated to Malden, Massachusetts around 1890. He had been a member of the Foresters Court in Malden. Through his records, I saw the name of his hometown in Ireland (Donoughmore Parish) and the names of his parents. I was able to correlate that information to the Catholic Church records in Limerick, Ireland. It was a big help. Unfortunately, my grandfather died at a young age. My father was only two years old when he passed away, so he saw the death record and the insurance paid out to my grandmother, who was left with seven children, my dad being the youngest. They really needed the financial help from the insurance that the Foresters provided. He had been a member of a court in Malden. It was a touching record to find and also very detailed in terms of height, weight, and physical characteristics from the doctor's examination. It’s a great resource and I'm really happy that the records were saved and are now available.'
