'This is my son's first preschool class photo. This is the three-year-old class at the Sharon Cooperative Nursery School in 1994. Susan Markowitz, one of the founders of the school (Pearl Falk was the other one) was the teacher. The school was founded in 1976 to bring children and parents together as a community to learn and grow together as families and a community. Classes back then were mornings or afternoons for two-three hours. Parents took turns helping in the classrooms alongside certified teachers as helping parents. The school still exists today as the Sharon Cooperative Nursery and Day School. We (I am now the Executive Director and one of the teaching staff) offer both part-time and full-time education and care for children aged two years nine months to kindergarten. These six children attended the Sharon Public Schools. Two of them, Christopher and Austin, remain best friends and consider themselves brothers. Our families consider each other the same way-relatives, family and best friends. It all started at the Coop!'
