Ground breaking ceremony for major addition to the Unitarian Church of Sharon
Description:
'A spring service in 2009 ended with a ceremony outdoors to observe the start of the A.I.M. project (Accessibility and Improvements to the Meetinghouse). Rev. Brennan led youth and elders in acknowledging the years of service from the low wing off the back of the church which was about to be demolished. Prayer flags, eggs to be crushed (and used to define the boundaries of the new addition), and a footprint of the building about to be added were part of the service. A cake was cut up in the shape of the old wing and consumed as a symbolic gesture to cap the event. Pictured: Around 75 members of the Unitarian Church of Sharon, of mixed generations, plus several invited guests. Location: Meetinghouse Green, Town Center.'
