'Oldest firehouse in Milton. Built in 1881, it currently houses the Milton Firefighters Memorial Archives and Museum. This is the earliest photograph we have of this building. Still standing. This photo was donated on the day the museum opened. William Sias (d. 1911), seated on the front seat, with whiskers. Lived at 40 Sias Lane. Grandfather of Priscilla Allen Greenlaw, who donated this photo at the grand opening of the museum in October, 1993. 'Chemical Engine' had fire extinguisher containing soda (bicarbonate) and sulfuric acid to create CO2 to kill the fire. H2SO4 tended to eat the tank it was stored in. It had a water tank, too. Sign read, 'Chemical No. 1.''
