'Married at St John the Baptists in Boston, Ma, right after my grandmother disembarked from a ship from Portugal. She travelled to Portugal from their home in Ribeira Granda Sao Antone, Cape Verde. My grandfather left his home in Cape Verde in 1913. His descendents still live in his home 2011. Notice my grandmother's wedding ring is too large for her finger. My grandmother would always talk about 'minha terra' (my land). The trip to America was so difficult that she never returned. I finally visited my grandparents' village in 2005. I visited and ate in my grandfather's home and touched my grandfather's home. I found out that I have more relatives in Cape Verde than I do in America. It was not until I met my family in Cape Verde that I became connected from the heart. Pictured: Sylvestra Oliveira Ramos Cruz and Antone Cruz.'
