'This is my mother who looks to be about 4 years old, she was born in 1914. She is holding a soldier doll. As this was in, or just after World War I this type of doll may have been common. The picture is a postcard so I believe it was a studio picture. My mother was born in Roxbury, the second youngest of 10 children born to Ellen and Thomas Hines, Ellen emigrated from Roscommon, Thomas' father emigrated from County Laois. Pictured: my mother Esther Helen Hines Deal.'
