'This photo was taken at the 1991 CIS dinner when I was President. I am greeting Seamus and Father Drinan who were our special honorees at this dinner. Seamus was a very close friend of mine and it is wonderful to have this memento of him in his prime. I actually visited Seamus and his wife this past July only 5 weeks before he passed. I took no photo on that occasion, but will treasure this one. As the granddaughter of immigrants from Mayo, Cork and Tipperary it was a privilege to greet a Congressman and Nobel Laureate and present them with CIS Achievement Awards. Pictured, from left to right: President of the Charitable Irish Society Catherine Shannon, Former Massachusetts Congressman Father Robert Drinan and Boylston Professor of Rhetoric at Harvard University, later Nobel Laureaute, Seamus Heaney.
