'This farmhouse was built in 1748. We believe it is the lot building built in Spencer's history and the only brick house. It is Georgian style, some pieces of Federal style, namely the front door and glass transom. The Wilson farm existed from 1748 and in the early 19th century became a dairy farm of 120 head of milking cows and 30 head of beef cattle, turkey, pigs, and in addition to hay, a large segment was vegetable farming. The barn roof adjacent to the farmhouse lost its roof in 1926 and was replaced that year. The bricks that the farmhouse was built from were from a brick manufacturing company on Lower Wine Village Road. Pictured: Leroy Sherman in the center and Gerard Harwood Wilson in the foreground. Back of photo reads: 'Farm where Glad [?] was born and raised. Large long barn blew down in 1926--was rebuilt same year.' Location: 115 Wilson Street.'
