'Richard Edmands Chapman (1887-1984). His father, George Washington Chapman, was the Town of Hyde Park's Collector of Taxes and Overseer of Poor. Richard Chapman died two months after his 97th birthday. He held the Hyde Park Historical Society together for 40 years until membership and community interest renewed in the early 1970s under Bob and Nancy Hughes, my predecessors as presidents. A good gentleman and personal valued friend. Article taken from 'Parkway Transcript,' July 25, 1984.'
