'Bob Ponticelli happened to tell then State Senator N. Costello about a 'new' machine that could take x-rays of women's breasts and 'see' if there were any irregularities (masses, tumors, etc.). The machines were not used because insurance companies would not pay for them. Senator Nick introduced a mammography bill and forced insurance companies to pay for them and pap smears. Ironically, in 1999, a mammogram found a cancerous growth in my wife Cynthia's breast and literally saved her life. Pictured, left to right: Senator Nicholas Costello, Rep. Barbara Hildt, Chairman and Selectman George Motsis, Selectman James Thiverge, Hospital Trustee John Zabriskie, Hospital Administrator Bob Ponticelli and Governor Michael Dukakis. Location: State House.'
