'This photo is of my family at my graduation. I graduated with a Masters in Cultural Sustainability from Goucher College. My thesis delved into the intersections of race, culture, identity, and belonging from female Chinese adoptees between ages 18-23. I feel very connected to both the Asian American community and the Asian adoptee community, but never fully part of both. I believe when we belong nowhere we belong everywhere, and I belong most with my parents, Marjorie and Doug. We talk openly and vulnerably about race, class, love and loss. I don't think too many Asian adoptees have this relationship with their adoptive parents. Who knows. I just know my parents work very hard to reconcile our differences.
