Submission text: I am not myself a Boston resident but I believe that most of the country was at least somewhat effected by the bombings. At the time of the bombings I was headed out on a trip to look at colleges and I remember driving through New York, all the while following the frantic police search for the bombers over the radio. I was getting texts from friends who were in Boston at the time it went in to lock down and found myself being so thankful we had decided to skip that stop on our college trip. Worried for my friends who were stuck in the city I made sure that they kept me updated on their status just so I would know that they were ok. Its hard to describe my own feelings at the time of the event because there were just so many...fear, sadness, anxiety, and most of all shock. Shock was the greatest of all my feelings because being a teenager most of us don't believe an event like the Boston bombing will ever happen to us or in our lifetime. We as teenagers believe ourselves to be invincible but it really is the exact opposite. Things like this do happen, when we least expect it and it hurts everyone, whether it's a family, a community, or an entire city. That someone would want to cause the amount of pain that was caused in the city of Boston and beyond is mind blowing to me. Every little bit helps when it comes to repairing and reforming ourselves as a community and even if all I could do was having a moment of silence at school it still gave me a moment to think about those victims and their families and send them my thoughts and prayers that they would recover from this traumatic event. Hearing about the Boston bombing really put my life into perspective and made me more thankful for the people and the experiences I have had in my life.
