Sarah Gass writes to Louisa thanking her for a recent letter she sent. She updates Louisa on the health of various family members, noting that her Aunt is limping because of rheumatism. Mr. Stewart is not doing well, he looks like someone dying of consumption. The doctors say it is his liver. Further describing the health of friends and family, Sarah tells of a friend's baby who died of smallpox soon after he was born and two other people died of spotted fever.
