Letter from Joel M. Halpern to Nettie and Carl Halpern

Field notes (pages 193-200) by Joel and Barbara Halpern about Serbia. These notes appear to have been typed during a winter break in Belgrade. The notes include another description of a local wedding in Orsacs which took place late in year. Barbara Halpern describes the wedding feast, held outdoors, as being served in weather of about 25 degrees Fahrenheit. These pages also include material from previous dates that were in the notebooks but not typed include descriptions of grape harvesting and wine making from October as well as the sowing of winter wheat and state owned tractors. Barbara Halpern included some notes on recipes she had learned and was excited to make include a number of Serbian dishes, strudel and baklava The notes also include descriptions of a Slava feast from the city compared with the feast from the village and discusses some of the differences. The notes conclude with a description of a party thrown by a friend in Belgrade for his college friends.
