Psychiatrists are banding together to fight in response to ABC's documentary entitled "Madness and Medicine." The program discussed electroconvulsive therapy, psychosurgery, and pharmacotherapy and the American Psychiatric Association's Counsel Joel Klein says the program failed to discuss instances where psychiatric treatments have had beneficial results. Psychiatric societies across the United States held press conferences and sent letters to newspapers to counter the negative imagery of the program.
