Regarding two proposals: one concerning the design of campus facilities so that they are totally accessible to people with physical disabilities; the second concerns the development of a rehabilitation program similar to one at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Ryan comments on a survey of the architectural barriers in educational facilities of Massachusetts and says that the University of Massachusetts Boston campus is limited in their flexibility to modify some areas, such as restrooms and corridors. Ryan explains that he does not want to overlook architectural barriers that would cause difficulty for people with disabilities on campus.
