Rice responds to Bassett's comparison of treatment by the psychological model and the medical model in psychiatry. Rice is in agreement with Bassett and she goes on to describe Bassett how she evaluates the scientific footing of these two models and how her machine model differs from then. Rice then includes three short essays describing psychological, medical, and machine model of psychiatry.
