Chamberlin thanks Rice for sending the correspondance with the Mental Health Law Project concerning their testimony at the electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) hearings. Chamberlin mentions she was going to send Rice a copy of an article from the Boston Globe Magazine on ECT, but Selma Levine already had. Instead, Chamberlin sends Ellen Goodman's syndicated column on the Berkeley ECT referendum, which she found disappointing. Chamberlin then asks if Rice has seen the movie Frances and encourages her to do so, if she hasn't already, since the movie is a real indictment of psychiatry as a tool to control people.
