Oversize tool: beveled square Single piece of wood with metal "blade" that folds into slot in wood. Blade end finished at angle and pierced. Incised label (stamped?) "EBEN. PEIRCE" and scratched symbol on one side. Incised label (stamped?) "JN" and scratched symbol (?) and circular inked label (?) on opposite side. Early Display Tag describes the object thus: Owned by Captain John Jervis (once Worshipful Master of Hiram Lodge). The "J.N." stands for John Niles who may have owned it for a time. It was next owned by Josiah H. Russell and presented by him to Eben F. Peirce. This "Bevel Square" is presented to the Arlington Historical Society by Mr. Eben Peirce, aged 85 years, now of Leominster, Mass. Mr. Peirce was made a Master Mason in Hiram Lodge, March 1859.
