Villégiature. - Et tu crois, Adélaïde, qu'on n'est pas mieux ici qu'aux bains de mer ou qu'aux eaux de Spa?...
Title (alt.):
Holiday in the country. - Don't you agree, Adelaïde, that we are by far better off here than at the seashore or the spa?.... Charivari
Description:
The caption reads, "Don't you think, Adelaide, that we are better off here than at the beach or at the spa?". The couple knows that both the beach and spa would be extremely crowded because of the dog days. "La canicule" or "Dog-Days" were the extremely hot and humid summer days one still encounters nowadays between July 3 and August 11 in Paris.
