'One of the biggest delays to the creation of the Northern Strand Trail was receiving permission from the MBTA to construct the trail. This process took nearly ten years in and of itself. I served as the lead negotiator on behalf of the cities of Malden and Everett in securing the lease which was used as a model for many other eastern Massachusetts communities.
