'1920-1959. James Stasinos and his wife, Afrodite, opened a hot dog stand on Main Street early in the 1900s. He was joined by his brother-in-law, Charles Melahoures, around 1920 and the partners soon expanded to Jim's Restaurant which became one of three local restaurants. Jim's was popular for its great coffee, muffins, and 99-cent Blue Plate specials. Rena, Charles' wife, also worked for many years as a waitress while raising their three children. The two oldest children, Charlie Stasinos and Sylvia Melahoures, also joined the business family: Charlie as a cook after a stint in the Navy in World War II, and Sylvia as a waitress before leaving for college. Sylvia also created the many signs and designed the place mat with Plymouth scenes. The eatery remained open seven days a week during the war and fed many of the soldiers from Camp Edwards. The business was closed in 1959.'
