A. Philip Randolph and Boston's African-American Railroad Workers: A Public History Commemoration, Knights of the Rail exhibition information
Description:
This is a guide to 'Knights of the Rail,' an exhibition about A. Philip Randolph and Boston's African-American railroad workers. The booklet includes information about the development of the exhibition, the history the exhibition explores, and those who prepared the exhibition, including members of RCH Associates: Robert C. Hayden, James R. Green, Elise Katz, William G. Fletcher, Jr., and William Thompson. Robert C. Hayden, history professor at Northeastern University and President of RCH Associates, interviewed thirty-two retired Boston African American railroad workers from 1988-1989 as background research for 'The Knights of the Rail,' a special permanent exhibition which opened in 1991 at the MBTA Back Bay Station. This collection includes typed transcripts of twenty-seven of those interviews.
