What The Cardinal Doctor Ordered. Batting an early season average of .313, lanky rookie Martin Marion is solving the St. Louis Cardinals’ problems at shortstop. Up from the International League, where he batted .272 last year, coach Mike Gonzales hopes he will be one of those rare ball players who hit better in the majors than in the minors. Marion is 22 and weighs 165 pounds. He is shown in St. Louis April 28.
