Discovers Chemical Defect That Causes Hardening of the Arteries--Dr. George C. Fuller, one of the University of Rhode Island scientists who have announced new insights into the cause of arteriosclerosis or hardening of the arteries, works on a project in lab at the school. They have discovered a chemical defect in laboratory animals afflicted with the disease. The disease results in blood vessels becoming clogged with deposits leading to heart disease and high blood pressure.
